Venkateswara Rao is selected to be umpire for the badminton World Championships
Aug 4, 2009 - India has selected 41 year old, Mr. Venkateswara Rao, who is physical director of St. Mary’s Centenary College of Education at Gnanapuram to be umpire for the World Championships. He has competed in several events himself before then qualifying as an umpire. These events include: senior National championships, the Thomas and Uber Cup, Asian Zone World team championships-2006, Asian championships, Asian satellite international meet, SAARC tournament, Commonwealth Youth Games, World Junior championships, Indian Open World meet. He was chief referee at some of these tournaments and was also the badminton coach for Andhra University.
