Taufik Hidayat at Macau Open

 Friday August 21, 2009 - Today saw Taufik Hidayat, the defending Macau Open champion, take to the court and beat Yu Shing Hsieh of Taipei 21-6, 21-14 in just over a half hour in men's singles.  Jin Chen won again today with a 21-10, 21-19 win over unseeded Yun Hu of Honk Kong.  Arvind Bhat of India was eliminated today with a loss to Choong Hann Wong of Malaysia in three sets.  Lee Chong Wei beat India's Chetan Anand 21-10, 21-14 in one of the last matches of the day.
 
In women's singles German Julianne Schenk pressed onwards with a 21-18, 21-5, 31 minute victory over Ji Hyun Sung of Korea.  Number two Lin Wang was upset by number five from China, Chen Wang in a 58 minute battle that ended up  23-21, 17-21, 21-19.  Yihan Wang of China will advance to tomorrow after battling back from a first set loss to take out Pui Yin Yip of Hong Kong 12-21, 21-8, 21-17.
 
Men's doubles will see Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tan advance to Saturday along with Tan Fook Choong and Wan Wah Lee of Malaysia.  Women's doubles pairs to advance include: Jing Du and Yang Yu of China, Ling Gao and Yili Wei of China and Wei Yang and Jiewen Zhang also of China.
