South Corea will play against China for the Sudirman Cup's final.
May 16, 2009 - It will be South Korea trying to knock off the Chinese powerhouse on Sunday to try and steal the Sudirman Cup. South Korea defeated Indonesia in a surprising 3-1 outcome. At left
South Korea's men's doubles team of Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae Sung celebrate after their match against Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan. After their exit from the tournament Indonesian team manager Jacob Rusdianto addressed the fans by saying, " We thank them for their support but are sorry we cannot fulfil their hopes by winning today."
In the other semi-final, much to the delight of the home crown China beat the strong team of Malaysia. If Malaysia was to have any chance of advancing, Lee Chong Wei would have to defeat Lin Dan in the men's singles competition. But after 56 minutes of play the crown went in to a frenzy as China went up 2-0 with Dan's victory. They went on to win by a tally of 3-0. Dan was quoted as saying, "He was very persistent and I think both players played to their full ability," adding, "He never gave up and kept catching me up point by point.
