Malaysian Open badminton tournament Final Results:

Despite a back injury suffered in the first round  Lee Chong Wei (at left) has secured his number one world ranking, after defeating Chinese player Long Chen in straight sets 21-16, 21-9 in 32 minutes.  Wei said, ""I needed to be careful and changed my tactics a little by playing aggressively. I feared if I had prolonged the match I would aggravate my injury. I'm heading back to Kuala Lumpur tonight (yesterday) to continue with treatment."  Wei also spoke highly of his opponent stating, "I believe he will be the one to take over from Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai and Chen Jin. He is a good attacking player and could prove to be a dangerous opponent in future."
 
The women's title went to Shixian Wang (below left)  after a three set victory over Xin Wang 21-16, 18-21, 21-10 in just under one hour.  The victory was then dedicated to her  coach and former Chinese top player Han Jingna. The nineteen year old said, " I have been training under her for the last half a year. She is a former top player and has done a lot to improve my game. When I think of my first Open title victory, I want to always remember her. Hopefully, this will be a start for better things for me. I want to win more honours in the international stage."  Women's doubles champions are Ma Jin  and Wang Xiaoli after MAS GP FINALS WS WINNERthey sMAS GP FINAL KOO TANhocked Chin Eei Hu and Wong Pei Tty 21-9, 21-11 to walk away with the title.  Men's doubles saw the pairing of Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong  (at right) win 21-11, 21-13.  Boon heong said, ""Past experiences have taught us never to take any pair lightly. We will discuss with coach Rexy (Mainaky) on our strategy for the world meet."  The mixed doubles final took only 15 minutes to decide as the match was retired after just 5-5.  Unfortunately Zhao Yunlei twisted her right knee in the first match and had to pull out with her partner Chen Zu.  This gave the title to Zheng Bo and Ma Jin. Ma had an excellent tournament as she won both the women's doubles and the mixed doubles competitions with her partners.
 
 
The top countries in the world were dominating once again as Malaysia took home 2 titles from the tournament and China took home 3.
