Lin Dan faces Misha Zilberman for the title
July 24, 2009 - Defending men's singles world champion Lin Dan will start to defend his title, when he faces off against Misha Zilberman of Israel. The third round might then see Dan face fellow Chinese player and number 11 ranked, Bao Chunlai. The world number one ranked Malaysian, Lee Chong Wei should have an easy opening round against German Dieter Domke. He has elected to train in Seoul Korea, and not in his home country before the tournament to avoid any distractions. The third ranked Dane Peter Gade, will battle with Ukrainian Valeriy Atrashchenkov.
Top seed in women's singles Mi Zhou of Hong Kong will meet the winner of Nanna Brosolat Jensen of Denmark, and New Zealander Michelle Chan Ky in the second round. Both Mi and Saina Nehwal of India have a bye in the first round.
Great Britain's mixed doubles pair of Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg will face Misha Zilberman and Svetlana Zilberman, of Israel, in the first round of the World Championships. They shouldn't have any trouble making it to the third round, where they will likely face Chinese fifth seeds Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen.
