Indonesian Open badminton tournament: Second round

 June 18, 2009 - In second round men's singles action at the Singapore Open at the Istaro Bung Karno gymnasium, it was Lee Chong Wei defeating Hafiz Hashim 21-7, 19-21,21-7.  Peter Hoeg Gade lost the first set, but came back to beat Tien Minh Nyguen of Vietnam 13-21,21-19,21-14.  Sony Dwi Kuncoro easily handled Choong Han Wong 21-8, 21-12 in just 32 minutes.  Jin Chen advanced to the third round as did Lin Dan, Yan Kit Chan and Sung Hwan Park after he knocked out number eight ranked Simon Santoso.
 
In women's singles it was Yihan Wang taking care of Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand 21-16, 21-5.  Saina Nehwal got by German Julian Schenk 18-21, 21-7, 21-19.  Also moving on are China's Lan Lu and Xingfang Xie, Korea's Hye Youn Hwang, Japan's Sayoko Sato, Indonesia's Maria Febe Kusumastuti.
 
In men's doubles action moving only will be the pairs of Hendra Aprida Gunawan and Alvent Yulianto of Indonesia, third ranked Kien Keet Koo and Boon Heong Tan, Korea's Jae Sung Jung and Yong Dae Lee, Luluk Hadianto and Joko Riyadi of Indonesia will also see third round action after defeating Anthony Clark and Nathan Robertson of England. Yun Cai and Haifeng Fu from China also advanced, as did Malaysia's Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazara. Number one ranked Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan also stay in the hunt for the title.
 
Women's doubles third round action competitors will be: Hsin Yun Chang and Chia Chi Chou representing Taipei, Yawen Zhang and Ting Ting Zhao representing China, Jung Eun Ha and Min Jung Kim of Korea defeated the German/Canadian pairing of Nicole Grether and Charmaine Reid 21-19, 21-9, and the number one pair from Malaysia Eai Hui Chin and Pei Tty Wong round out the field.
 
Mixed Doubles: advancing to the next round will be Zhongbo Xie and Yawen Zhang and Bo Zheng and Jin Ma from China; joining them will be the English/Scottish contingent of Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier, Korea's Sang Hun Han and Ye Na Jang, and Yong Dae Lee and Hyo Jung Lee, Danes Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen, and fourth ranked Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl.
