Indonesian Open badminton tournament: Quarter-final action

 June 19, 2009 - Quarter-final action today in Singapore didn't disappoint the fans as some excellent skill was shown on the court.  Men's singles number one player Lee Chong Wei stormed in to the semi-finals with a vicrory over Sung Hwan Park 21-9,21-13.  It was an excellent day for men's Chinese player Jin Chen as he was able to math third ranked Lin Dan's intensity and win 18-21, 21-17,21-4 in just over an hour.  Sony Dwi Kuncoro and Taufik Hidayat will now meet each other in the other semifinal.  Taufik was able to figure out Peter Hoeg Gade and erk out a win 21-19, 8-21, 22-20 in 1hr and 12 minutes.
 
Women's singles semi-final play will see Lin Wang face Xingfang Xie and number 6 ranked Saina Nehwal of India take on the talented Chinese player Lan Lu.  Saina reached the sem-finals with an impressive win over Korea's Hye Youn Hwang 21-7, 13-21, 21-15 in 45 minutes. Xingfang Xie ended Japan's Sayaka Sato's chance at the title with her 22-21, 21-13 victory.
 
Women's doubles winners include: Jung Eun Ha and Min Jung Kim of Korea, Eai Hui Chin and Pei Tty Wong of Malaysia, Shu Cheng and Yunlei Zhao of China and Taipei's Wen Hsing Chen and her partner Yu Chin Chien.
 
The Men's Doubles semifinals have been finalized: Korea's Jae Sung Jung and Yong Dae Lee will meet number one ranked Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan, and in the other match  third ranked Kien Keet Koo and Boon Heong Tan will meet Yun Cai and Haifeng Fu from China.
 
In mixed doubles  Korea's Jae Sung Jung and Yong Dae Lee will meet the Danish pair of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen, and Bo Zheng and Jin Ma from China will take on Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl.
