High serve in Badminton

The high serve is mostly used in single matches. The birdie is hit as high as possible with the intent of getting as close to the baseline. With your left foot forward (left-handed players should put their right foot forward). Hold the birdie in your outstretched left hand in front of you. (You'll need a long swing) and keeping your eye on the birdie. Moving your weight forward and releasing the birdie, carry the swing completely down and up, swinging a full half circle from behind towards the birdie. Have the racket follow through with the birdie upward.

Common high serve mistake
Beginners have a habit of hitting the birdie diagonally, instead of swinging down and up. This is usually brought about by holding the birdie too close to the body. Another common mistake is to not swing back the racket far enough and leaning backwards instead of forward. Which makes the birdie go high, but not long enough to the baseline limit.
