Forehand Short serve in Badminton
Standing in a relaxed position, with your weight evenly distributed on both legs, the foot opposite your racket (usually left foot) should be forward. Hold the birdie directly in front of your body and the racket held backwards, bend your arm at the elbow and your wrist slightly bent backwards. Once the birdie is released swing the racket forward moving your weight to your forward foot, make sure your wrist is slightly bent back and don't leave the birdie out of your sight. Once the birdie is hit, keep your wrist bent, your weight should be on your forward foot, follow the birdie with your eyes. When serving have the racket follow through with the swing and always keeping your eye on the birdie.
Common forehand serve mistakes
Beginners tend to hold the birdie too far from their body and carry the racket too far back, using their wrist when serving. These common serving mistakes cause them to lose control of the birdie and make the birdie go higher over the net than needed for the short serve.
