Badminton Swing

Forehand:
To practice a good forehand, start by holding the racket by the shaft with the left hand (if right-handed) with the right hand stroke the stringed area and come straight down to the handle sliding it down till you have a good grip. Bend your fingers in gently around the handle forming a V-shape with the thumb and index finger. It is important to hold the racket firmly but not too tight.

Backhand:
When holding a racket for a back hand, the racket is held slightly turned towards the right (for right-handed) or towards the left (for left-handed players) where the thumb is directly in line with the flat part of the handle and can be levered.

Serve:
There are two basic badminton serves; short serve and long serve. However the long serve has a couple of variations, like the wrist flick or flat swing. The idea of the short serve is to make it pass as close to the net as possible not allowing the opponent to answer with a downward swing. The object of a high or long serve is making your opponent move towards the back of the court and thus weakening his response.

Short serve:
As short serve should pass a close to the net as possible, barely skimming it and land just inside the service area; disabling the chance of an attack from your opponent. It can be done with a backhand or forehand.
