About the badminton world championships
May 26, 2009 - At the world championships being held in India in August, the host team will be able to benefit by fielding an extra team in all events. Prakash Padukone who is involved in training and fielding the team said, ""Being hosts to this premiere event, we get a wild card entry for the tournament hence, performance of the team in this championship will give us a fair idea of the future work required to be done before we approach the CWG 2010. The singles team will consists of: Chetan Anand, Arvind Bhatt, Saina Nehwal and Aditi Mutatkar. In doubles it will be: Rupesh Kumar, Sanave Thomas, Akshay Dewalkar and Jishnu Sanyal, and in the mixed doubles it is the veteran pair of V Diju and Jwala Gutta. This is the first time India has hosted any world championship event.
