2009 Men's singles champion from China Lin Dan with a 21-18, 21-16 victory. "I'm very happy to win three times, I hope in future also I can have better performances," Dan said afterwards through an interpreter. Even though Dan was only ranked fifth going in to the tournament, he was the favorite.

2009 Mixed doubles champions from Denmark Thomas Laybourn & Kamilla Rytter Juhl showed that they deserve to be included with the best of the world, after taking out another team ranked higher then them, with a 21-13, 21-17 victory over number two Nova Widianto & Liliyana Natsir.
